Assistant Professor, University of Basel
Sabine is a philosopher working mainly in ethics and political philosophy. She grew up in Biel/Bienne, Switzerland, a small town on the French-German language border. When she started university, she first majored in political science, until she found philosophy in her mid-twenties and never looked back. She currently lives in Basel with her longterm partner (also a philosopher) and their son. Her native language is German and she speak English, French, Spanish, and some Italian.
Sabine’s current research interests are family ethics, individual moral responsibility in collective contexts, ideal and nonideal theory, and feminist liberalism. She received her Ph.D. from the University of Zurich in 2014 and worked as a postdoc at the Universities of Graz (2015-2018) and Bern (2018-2022). She took up a position as assistant professor at the University of Basel with her SNSF-funded research project “Just Parenthood: The Ethics and Politics of Childrearing in the 21st Century“ in April 2023.
